SSC introduced its Scope 3 Training Academy to bridge these gaps, providing suppliers with tailored education and tools to improve emissions management, meet global reporting standards, and align with corporate climate expectations.

SSC delivered a two-module Scope 3 Training Academy designed to meet suppliers at their respective stages of maturity:

• Module 1: Focused on foundational training, teaching suppliers how to measure and report Scope 1 and 2 emissions accurately. Participants used SSC’s tools and workbook to build confidence in aligning with the GHG Protocol.

• Module 2: Designed for more advanced suppliers, this module focused on reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions, conducting Scope 3 hotspot analyses, and developing emissions reduction action plans. Many suppliers also committed to science-based targets as a result of the training.

Throughout the program, SSC emphasized engagement, accountability, and application, ensuring that suppliers not only learned but also implemented measurable practices. Daily interactions, real-world case studies, and workbook exercises reinforced knowledge transfer and built supplier confidence in sustainability leadership.

The Scope 3 Training Academy for Suppliers is a 4 -12 month long program designed by Sustainable Solutions Corporation to help suppliers measure, manage, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in their operations and products.

The training academy is tailored to suppliers maturity in sustainability with a goal of educating each supplier to drive immediate action and continuous improvement. The hands-on approach taught by experts ensures participants gain practical skills, while each module comes with a dedicated workbook to guide learning and application.

By combining expert instruction, interactive tools, office hours, and personalized support, the academy empowers suppliers to provide accurate emissions data, set achievable carbon reduction goals, and contribute to meeting the customers ambitious supply chain decarbonization efforts.

For this training in Module 1, suppliers:

• Calculated their Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in alignment with the GHG Protocol.

• Submitted their allocated primary data to the pharmaceutical company’s GHG emissions software platform.

Through this process, the suppliers gained a solid understanding of emissions measurement and are now prepared to conduct ongoing tracking and begin developing GHG reduction action plans for Scope 1 and 2.

During Module 2, suppliers:

• Developed an action plan for energy efficiency and renewable/ carbon free energy utilization to reduce Scope 2 emissions.

• Created a roadmap to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions to maximize energy and cost savings.

• Learned how to implement their action plan and report their progress.

• Completed a Scope 3 hotspot analysis equipping them with the ability to collaborate with their own suppliers on Scope 3 emission reductions and product optimization.

As a result, many suppliers felt confident in taking the next step of setting science-based targets.
